Friends,
I have been threatening to write this post for several weeks. Well, here it is. Unfortunately, at least for those of you who follow TMD’s Blog Page, my plans probably won’t come as a surprise to you. But, for those who missed the earlier signs, here’s the plan.
I intend to spend 2024 re-working the entire TMD line. many items will not need that much done to them. I’ll just take new, better pictures and clean up the description. Other items will be all but re-mastered. These will also receive new pictures and descriptions. As I get to this, I will be trying to add cross-links to other products you might want to go with whatever you’re buying. This way, you can get everything you need in one purchase and without having to do as much searching.
I’m also planning to post a listing of all my instruction sheets here on the blog page. This will let me link the listing page on the store to the instruction sheets on the blog. It is the only work-around I’ve managed to find to this problem. The issue is not me, it is on my host’s end. Their shopping cart simply isn’t designed to allow both physical and digital media on the same page.
There will still be a lot of new stuff added to the line this year, but most of it will be aimed at filling the gaps in my current line. That, and spin-off items that naturally derive from the up-dating and re-working I’ll be doing. So, for those who do like collecting new goodies, we won’t be leaving you out in the cold.
The goal here is to encourage all of us to get serious about our stash and our hobby. I don’t know about the rest of you, but I have become more collector than builder, and I’d like to change this. When I was younger, this hobby was about the build, not the buy. Well, I have a huge stash and a lot of products made to work with the kits in my stash, so why buy new kits when I can simply build the ones I have? If it is about the build, then I need to get building. I’m going to encourage as many of my customers as who wish to do so to join me in my crusade to return to the love of building. And that is the theme of this year’s campaign:
RETURN TO THE LOVE OF BUILDING!
(Just remember, TMD sells lots of goodies that will help you build those older gems in your stash 😉 )
Hello Joe,
I think it’s encouraging and inspiring for us (and intensive, time consuming for you) to rework the webshop. But in the end, the comfort and ease you create to use the pages will be for the benefit of the customers (the above mentioned reasons) and you (same reasons and hopefully more return profit).
So take your time to make the best of this. Pretty sure the people who want to find you and TMD, will still do. Even when the site is on maintenance.
Greetings from the Netherlands,
Richard Cramer.
Richard, IF I do this right, the web store will never go down. You’ll just see more and more individual listing pages being updated every week. This is the idea, anyway. 🙂
