IF I OWE YOU AN ORDER, PLEASE BE PATIENT

Tomorrow night is going to be real tough on me and BB…
I hate this part of owning pets. For the second time in as many years, we’re going to be saying good-bye to a member of our family. My TV-watching buddy has intestine cancer, and tomorrow, we’ll be saying good-bye to Chip. While I know he is ‘just a dog,’ with our kids grown and gone, our dogs are all BB and I have left to share our home with — and we love them.
At least I will be able to say that Chip only knew his ‘forever home.’ And tomorrow, when I lay him to rest next to Suzy, he will still be with his forever family, and he’ll stay with us until his Mom and Dad are gone, too.

SO, if I owe you anything, please, I beg you: be patient with me.  I am doing my best to replace molds and fill orders, but Chip and I were especially close, and this is coming after three years of gut-blows.  I’m struggling, but I will get you taken care of — I swear it!

  1. I feel you. My son’s grown and on his own (but still close by). We have three dogs and they are our “in-home” kids. All three are getting up there, 8-13 years. The oldest is feeling her age and the problems that that entails. All we can do is give them the best because they’ve given that to us.

    1. We have three, too — for now. The two brothers are 9 1/2 and our little girl isn’t yet 2. I had hoped to get at least 2 more years out of the boys. I had also hoped Chief would go first, because he is going to take the loss of Chip hardest of all. But this is the hand we’ve been dealt, all we can do is play it out the best we can.

  2. Joe:
Prayers for you two and for Chip. I know what you’re going through right now; I wish it were not so.
In time, you’ll be s as blue to smile at the life you gave Chip. The burden doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger.

  3. So sorry, Joe. We have in our closet Fritz, Munchkin, Snickers, Maud, Heywood, Lili, and Latte, each a rescue animal-child and each dearly loved. Our best wishes to you and BB that the good memories ease your sorrow.
