2019.10.11 UPDATE: My ‘Dream Year’

Folks,

Sadly, due to the nature of our hobby (not to mention our society), many of you are going to be old enough to remember this:

Well, one year (i.e. ‘season’) ago today, I dreamed that my home and TMD were both just about obliterated from the face of the earth by a category 5 hurricane.  I am happy to report that, when I woke this morning, I found the house and TMD are both where I left them when I went to bed last night, October 10, 2018.  For some strange reason, however, some things do look a little different.  I could have sworn we had a lot more trees in the yard when I went to bed on the 9th, and there are a bunch of kits in the shop I do not remember buying, but then, I am getting older, so my memory might not be what it should be.  I suppose the only thing that really matters is that all the important stuff seems to be just as I left it when I went to bed the other night.  I guess it really was just a bad dream after all. O;-)

NOW HEAR THIS!

THIS WEEK’S BIG NEWS

Unless you count my returning to the master bench as ‘big news,’ I have no big news to announce this week.  OH! I forgot.  There is this:

THE RETURN OF THE WEEKLY UPDATE

Starting today, I will return to posting weekly updates on this blog page as well as the TMD Face Book page (after all, I only dreamed I suspended the UPDATES, so… 😉 ).  Start watching for them.

ON THE BENCH

I have no idea what’s on the bench — at least, not yet, anyway.  As I write this, I have Takom Panther and Bergepanthers, a Takom M26, some MiniArt M3 Lees and Grants and a Tamiya M10 and Achilles all sitting on the master room shelves.  The funny thing about these kits is, I have no idea where most of them came from.  I knew some of them had been announced, but I didn’t think they had been released yet.  And I had no idea the other kits had even been announced at all.  Which leaves me to wonder: how did they get here?  I don’t know, but WOW!  They sure look good.  I can’t wait to get to work on them.  I just can’t decide where to start.

AS FOR KARL

I happen to know that Karl has been busy mastering new goodies, but I have a confession: I have no idea where he’s at on any of them as I have not spoken to him in a while.  Strangely enough, the last time I did speak to Karl, he seemed to think it was 2019.  Frankly, I’m a little worried about Karl. 😉

Come to think of it, Dave Hobbs said something about it being 2019 last week, as well.  Maybe he and Karl have been visiting friends in Colorado or something? You know?  Partaking of some of the medicinal crops they grow there 😉  I’m just not sure what’s up with them and their funny belief that I’ve lost an entire year. I guess this is just going to have to be a case of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell.’ 😉

OUTSTANDING ORDERS

As of the time I wrote this, there were three outstanding orders in house.  All three are waiting on new molds, and the customers have been notified and, if all goes well, these three orders should have been shipped by the time you read this..

MY PERSONAL WORLD

Ah…  There is a lot to share on this front, but I just don’t feel like posting it here — not anymore.  In fact, this may be the last time any of you see anything about my personal world being mentioned in an UPDATE.  I think I’ll save all that noise for JOE’S CORNER.  So, if you’re interested in such nonsense, keep your eyes open for my JOE’S CORNER posts.  If your lucky, I might even tell you about my crazy dream.  You know, the one where I dreamed that TMD was put out of action for a year.  I mean, come on — really?!  Who would believe anyone could stop the tank known as TMD — especially for an entire year?  I mean, that’s impossible.  TMD is a cross between a King Tiger and a Super Pershing, and we all know both of those tanks were invincible, so just think of how bad their illegitimate love child must be.  So, no, no one would believe anything could knock out TMD, especially for a whole year.  Anyway, we’ll have to see how I feel about sharing my dream with ya’ll.  Maybe I’ll spin you a sea story; maybe I won’t.

THAT IS ALL

Well, that’s all I have for now, anyway.  So, until next week, stay safe and try to build something (preferably something using TMD resin).

— Joe

  1. Glad to get an update and look forward to your weekly ramblings, but mostly glad you’ve awakened from your dream and hope you’re as refreshed and optimistic as this update sounds. Yeah, a lot of new kits have appeared as if by magic on my shelves, too, and I’m eager to see the special magic you bring to the new kits that catch your fancy.
Especially glad to have you back, Joe!

    1. I am searching for what to do next, with a special focus on finishing things I have promised to those closest to me. I do believe this includes some armored car love 😉
