2018.9.1 UPDATE: A Good Week!

Folks,

It was a good week.  Once again, I grossly underestimated how long it would take to accomplish the mission I set out for myself (that, or I underwent a lot of mission-creep — or both).  Still, I got most of it done, and what is left is coming along quickly — thanks to some help I got from Dave Hobbs.  Come on, I’ll fill you in on the rest of the details.

NOW HEAR THIS!

THIS WEEK’S BIG NEWS

This week, the mission was to make a place to store every sub-master TMD owns.  This required folding and labeling some 5-600 small boxes, arranging them in drawers and then recording the drawer in which they are stored on a master spread sheet.  Well, I am proud to announce that I got this done!  But I had help.  Dave Hobbs came down and spent an entire day going through the entire shop looking for lost and miss-placed production blanks.  Then he sorted them into like types.  Now, all I have to do is put them in zip-lock bags and put them in their new homes.  This process is already well under way.

The mission-creep came in when I decided I should make new mold boxes, as well.  These are the boxes where the individual molds live when they are not in use.  Once again, this involves another 5-600 boxes, labels and a total re-organization of the mold box shelves.  This task is only half finished, but BB said I can stay on it Sunday and Monday.  If I do not run out of boxes, I should be finished by Monday afternoon.

Once these two chores are completed, this will be the very first time this work has ever been done in the history of TMD!

ON THE BENCH

I also managed to clean and re-organize the master bench — again.  And I spent an hour planning the new releases with Dave before he left.  I’m not sure what we’ll do, but I know I absolutely must get some of the older masters finished by the end of September.  They will be masters for the U.S. T-29/30/34, M3 Lee/Grant and the rest of the Panther external storage sets.  I do not see a problem this month, as everything has lined up for a good month on the master bench and I am ready and raring to go.  Chompin’ at the bit, even.

THE WEB STORE

I did not have time to start making the changes to the web store this past week, but I used the time I spent working on the sub-master and mold boxes to think about what I want to do and how I would like to do it.  Now, I just need to get to work.  IF I can keep my eyes open after BB goes to bed every night, I’ll “try” to start working on the changes.  Like you, I want them finished ASAP!

TMD BLOG PAGE

Dave Hobbs has been added as an administrator.  I’ll be adding ‘Joe’s Corner’ and ‘Dave’s Corner’ to the blog page.  Dave is going to use his page to start posting reference material that will not only help you understand the details of various tanks and their variants, but will also have practical applications for your modeling (especially as it relates to using TMD products 😉  ).  As for me?  I’ll be using my page to do everything from explain my reasoning behind the things I do or offering my thoughts about issues connected to our hobby, to posting pictures of the masters I am working on or models I might actually be trying to build.  So, if you have not already done so, I urge you to sign up to follow our blog page.

OUTSTANDING ORDERS

Currently, I have six (6) orders that need to be shipped.  The resin has been poured for every one of them.  They will ship Monday (unless Murphy shows up).  Now I need more work from you guys because, come Tuesday morning, I’ll be marking time, and that’s not good.  You have to keep the troops working or they wonder off and get into trouble.  So, START ORDERING AGAIN — NOW!  Just kidding 🙂  (not — lol)

RETURNED ORDERS

This is bothering me.  I now have 8 returned orders.  I have no idea what is going on, or how to find your email addresses.  All I can do is keep asking you to contact me if you are missing an order.

MY PERSONAL WORLD

I am doing great — too great, actually.  I am losing weight again, sleeping well, and getting house chores done.  That means BB is happy and things between us are great.  I am excited about TMD and making new masters.  Heck, I couldn’t imagine how anything could be any better…which means Murphy is dues to show up any time now.  Oh, well, we’ll deal with him if and when he rears his ugly head.  Until then, I’m going to enjoy this situation because it doesn’t come around very often.  🙂

THAT IS ALL

Well, that’s all I have for now.  So, until next week, stay safe and try to build something (preferably something using TMD resin).

  1. Poco a poco. Getting there. Getting healthy, physically, fiscally and spiritually .
You will find this interlude will be one of the best things you could do do for you and TMD

  2. I’m really glad to hear you’ve been able to get a lot of your “wish list” things done. You should be rightfully pleased! Keep it up, a bit at a time and spend the necessary time to put things back when you’re done with them! 😉 (didn’t momma tell ya that?)

Take care of yourself and BB (you choose the order…lol!).
